Jimmy Dynamite (often referred to as simply Jimmy) is Black Dynamite's younger brother, whose death instigates the plot of the 2009 film.

Description[]

Jimmy is a black man of average height and build with short curly hair and a 5 o'clock shadow. In his only adult appearance, he wears a brown suit and blue shirt, with a black beret on his head. As a sixteen year old, he was clean-shaven and had a large afro.

History[]

Early Life[]

Jimmy was born to Daddy Dynamite and Black Dynamie's Mother two years after the birth of his older brother Black Dynamite. When he was 6, their father left, and he was raised solely by his mother. At age 10, his mother died, and 12-year-old Black Dynamite made a deathbed promise to protect Jimmy and keep him clean from drugs. However, by 16, Jimmy had developed a drug habit, which Black Dynamite tried to break.

At some point in the following years, the two drifted apart and did not stay in frequent contact. However, Jimmy still deeply admired his older brother, and followed in Black Dynamite's footsteps by joining the Central Intelligence Agency as a field agent. He worked under Agent O'Leary, and he was tasked with infiltrating the Los Angeles heroin dealing community.

While undercover, Jimmy befriended the drug dealer Chicago Wind and the pimp Cream Corn. His main supplier of heroin was Vincent Rafelli, Don of the Carbozi crime family. Jimmy came to believe that Rafelli had ties to Congressman James, and began investigating how deep the connection went, a move that would ultimately cost him his life.

Events of the Film[]

Jimmy, along with two other black heroin dealers, meets with Don Rafelli and his men by the Los Angeles docks. However, Rafelli accuses one of the men of being a traitor; Jimmy denies being a snitch, inadvertently outing himself. He's shot dead by Rafelli's goons and his body is left in the street. When the police arrive, Captain Yancy bemoans the violence that Black Dynamite will wreak when he seeks revenge. Jimmy's Aunt Billy is informed of his death, and she gives the news to Black Dynamite.

It is later revealed the order to kill Jimmy was actually given by O'Leary in the CIA; he was worried that Jimmy would uncover the truth that the heroin epidemic was caused by the United States government, as well as Operation Code Kansas. Black Dynamite avenges his brother by killing O'Leary and defeating President Richard Nixon, stopping the drug menace once and for all.

Trivia[]

  • Despite his importance to the plot of the film, Jimmy neither appears nor is mentioned in the TV series.
  • His name is a reference to the 1975 film Dolemite, where Dolemite has a nephew named Jimmy who's killed in a gang drive-by. Dolemite later learns that Jimmy was a drug dealer who was killed because he tried to go clean and cooperate with the police.
  • Jimmy's uncharacteristically refined accent and diction are a reference to blaxploitation stars like William Marshall, who had a background in Broadway and Shakespearean theater.
